New Mills Events

Deciding to move to New Mills in 2017, Esther contacted the organisers of the long-established New Mills Arts Festival to offer her event management services.

Using her network of food traders, she launched the High Peak Indie street party, to demonstrate the difference that seating areas made to dwell time and spend at outdoor events.

Later that year, the PTA Duck Race, Bubble Fest, Lantern Procession, Community Bonfire and Xmas Lights all were provided with traders from her database and there is now a waiting list for all events in 2019.

Unusually for a town with a broadening demographic, there are no good (or family) restaurants in New Mills. Testing the waters by holding Artisan Food Fairs, showed that there was an untapped demand and also that there was a great deal of interest in locality and sustainability for food products. 

This then led to the development of a series of popup restaurants in 2019 and the opening of the only weekly, evening food market in the North West, created to enable commuters to access local retailers and suppliers by increasing the hours in which they could engage with local foodies.
